The Position:

You’ve got the industry technical expertise to be the “go to” person for our leading clients on the front end of their projects to provide guidance and information to help them launch their projects. Plus, you’ve got the people and business development skills that draws in business.  We’re looking for a senior leader to join our organization that will build on our success, and continue to position Superior as an industry leader by delivering value to clients and communities.

What You Will Do:

  • Liaise with clients in the early stages of projects, project ideation
  • Meet revenue, profitability, and other business goals
  • Position Superior Sprinkler as leader in the fire protection sector
  • Work closely with all stakeholders (general contractors, inspectors, architects, owners, local building officials, fire inspectors etc.) to ensure the continued success of all projects
  • Coordinate and prepare working documents and specifications suitable for permit, tender and construction purposes
  • Oversee drawings integrating architectural & mechanical plans using AutoCAD and Hydra CAD systems etc.
  • Evaluate fire protection/suppression systems on the drawings in accordance with current standards
  • Verify drawings to standards and client requirements
  • Participate in project meetings and project coordination
  • Support project management activities as required
  • Participate in job site meetings, inspections for project status
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, business planning, budgeting and recommendations
  • Research and stay current for applicable codes, NFPA standards, local trends, business trends & opportunities etc.

 

What You Bring:

Technical Skills

  • A technical post-secondary education with current eligibility for registration as either: a PTech/CET/CTech with Canadian Provincial professional technologist associations, or a P.Eng with Canadian Provincial professional engineering association
  • Ideally, 10+ years’ experience in the construction or engineering consulting industries including experience with fire protection systems
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in drafting with AutoCAD version 2015 or newer; BIM and Hydratec design software
  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations
  • Experience and familiarity with the following codes and standards: National Building Code of Canada, National Fire Code of Canada, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, CAN/ULC-S524, CAN/ULC-S561, and CAN/ULC-S1001
  • Provide technical support, value-added design evaluation
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office suite, ability to learn new software / technology / applications quickly and independently
